Imagine if you could only shop in a supermarket if you lived in a particular neighbourhood? Or if instead of getting a welfare cheque, those who fall on hard times got allocated food and clothes chosen for them by government?
That's how we run education. School places are allocated by district. Public money is handed to schools, but without allowing parents much choice.
Covid has exposed how self serving some teaching unions really are, running the schools in their interest. So is it now time to give mums & dads a legal right to control their child's share of the budget?
School choice would give ordinary folk the chances that today rich people have.
